Every one of us carries a set of assumptions about life from the environment in which we grew up to adulthood. They are formed through family, schooling, and the culture in which we swim. By the time we are old enough to question those assumptions they feel less like debatable concepts and more like weather.
That is the starting point of The Book on the Shelf. Not an argument that one particular world view is right or wrong, but an invitation to look honestly at where our assumptions about life came from and where they lead.
The question is not whether you have a world view. You do. Everyone does. The question is whether or not you've examined your world view to determine its validity.
